Whatever you're looking to do whilst you're here, Athol House makes a great base for exploring the Isle of Man.

The island itself offers a wealth of visitor attractions, events and activities, including:

  • Arts & Culture - The island is home to quite a few art galleries and when you stay with us, the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre are right on your doorstep.
  • Angling & Fishing - As an island, there are plenty of opportunities for skilled and first time fishermen (and women), both on the coast and inland.
  • Birdwatching - Our extensive coastline is home to kittiwake, guillemot, puffins, Manx shearwaters and more, including several birds less common within the UK.
  • Cycling - You can hire a bike or bring your own to explore miles of quiet country lanes, signposted cycle routes and more challenging hill routes.
  • Family Entertainment - As well as some lovely beaches, there's plenty to keep the kids amused with ghost tours, 10 pin bowling, laser blast, horse riding, segway tours, indoor waterpark, wildlife park, boating lakes, crazy golf, amusement arcades, bmx tracks and more.
  • Food & Drink - Whilst you're here, why not sample Manx Kippers or our famous Queenies? We're based near the centre of the capital Douglas, where the largest concentration of the island's restaurants and bars can be found.
  • Golf - With nine courses to choose from on an island that is only 33 miles long, the Isle of Man is ideal for Golfing Holidays.
  • History & Heritage - The island is home to ancient monuments, several castles, the famous Laxey Wheel and a number of museums including the nearby Manx Museum and specialist nautical, transport, railway and motorcycle museums.
  • Motorsport - The TT Races and Manx Grand Prix don't need a mention, but there's plenty to keep petrolheads and their families entertained out of season including quad biking, go-karting, track days and even trike tours.
  • Nature & Beauty Spots - The island and its coastline are home to some spectacular scenery and untamed countryside, with a number of visitor centres and great walking and wildlife opportunities.
  • Outdoor Adventure - Feeling adventurous? You can try your hand at horse riding, sea kayaking, coasteering, gorge scrambling, rock climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, archery, clay pigeon shooting, diving, yachting or sailing.
  • Railways & Transport - Horse drawn trams along Douglas promenade, a steam railway, electric railway, Snaefell moutain railway and several miniature steam railways. The Isle of Man is a tribute to Victorian engineering at its best.
  • Walking - With beautiful and dramatic scenery and miles of marked routes from town walks to coastal paths and more strenuous hill walks, the Isle of Man is perfect for Walking Holidays.
  • Wildlife Watching - As well as birds, you might also catch a glimpse of basking sharks, seals, whales and dolphins around our coastline, with boat trips running from a number of the island's harbours.
